To season the hearts of the Undergraduate final year students of KCLAS, the Community Engagement Programme (CEP) is designed to offer a dynamic community environment where the students engage in 30 hours of service learning in their VI semester of the program working on tangible and impactful outcomes. The Department of Social Work facilitated the programme that was coordinated by Dr. J.S. Santhosh along with the faculty members of the department Dr. Rex Sahayaraj, Dr. Binesh and Ms. Preethi Meena. MSW students co-facilitated with the faculty of UG departments in KCLAS wherein they learned about project management and leadership skills.

Dr. J.S.Santhosh undertook a Probono project in the Department of Social Work, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore during September 2023- January 2024. The intervention project is titled, “Depression in Women- A therapeutic approach to enhance the mental health and quality of life among working women in the unorganized sector and economically weaker sections”, sponsored and catalyzed by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) – SEED division, Government of India. Dr. Santhosh was involved in the following activities, 1. Conducting Psycho-Education [Group Session] to the women suffering from mild-moderate depression in the project areas Somaiyampalayam and Narasipuram Panchayat Villages in Coimbatore; 2. Individual Counselling and Psychotherapy to the clients and 3. Validating the Psycho-education part of the Intervention Module.
Dr. J.S.Santhosh was invited to facilitate the training sessions on mental health to school teachers in Government Schools in Kottaipalayam, Idikarai, Kovilpalayam and in Vellamadai from 29th January to 01st February 2024. The programmes were organized by Children of India Foundation, Coimbatore. The training was mainly focused on the broad understanding of mental health, mental illness, problems faced by schoolteachers, such as anxiety, stress and burnout, the importance of Self-care and mindfulness practices, psychological first aid, Child and adolescent mental health issues such as conduct disorders, addiction, stress, general anxiety, panic disorders, learning disability and most prominently on Teen suicide and role of schoolteachers in suicide prevention.
