Design Thinking is a leading innovation method used to generate strategic insight for product and businesses innovation.
The essence of the design thinking practice was a response to the question of what design had to contribute to the modern world. Designer and scholar Richard Buchanan framed this ongoing challenge for design thinking in 1992 through the notion of “wicked problems,”Buchanan built on theorist Horst Rittel’s challenge to designers in the early 1970s to move from solving simple problems to “wicked problems”—problems that are complex, open-ended, and ambiguous. These are problems that do not lend themselves to easy judgments of “right” or “wrong.”
Today, Design thinking has an amalgamation of approaches, which makes it unique — they may be why — design thinking is applied as an umbrella term for multi-disciplinary, human-centered projects that involve research and rapid ideation (idea generation).
The Design Thinking Course is a 6 months’ experiential, hands on course aimed at providing a nuanced understanding of Design Thinking and the ability to apply it.
