Tenzin Tsundue, Tibetan writer and activist addressed the Visual communication and English Literature students on the “Ingenious Process of Writing” on September 17, 2019. He shared the importance of Language and how the language identifies oneself. He outlined importance and parts of writing through his poem. Department of English organized a workshop on ‘Presentation Skills’ on September 13, 2019. It was conducted by Ms. Shakina Mohol, an ELT Material Developer with Cambridge University Press and Training Consultant at British Council, Pune. The workshop covered three aspects of presentation skills that are body language and delivery, visual aid and content. Students were introduced to concepts of signposting and tailoring presentations to suit their audiences’ need. They practiced these micro-skills through a group presentation at the end.
Department of English organized a workshop on ‘Writing Newsletter’ on September 13, 2019. It was conducted by Ms. Shakina Mohol, an ELT Material Developer with Cambridge University Press and Training Consultant at British Council, Pune. There were 42 participant including students, faculty and staff from KCT, KCLAS and KCTBS. The session on Newsletter writing helped the participants to define a purpose for their department newsletter and choose their newsletter content and design according to the purpose. It also gave them insights on different components of a newsletter, chunking and use of language.
