MSW at KCLAS is a two-year postgraduate degree affiliated to Bharathiar University, one of Tamil Nadu’s leading state universities. The programme integrates academic rigour with intensive field-based learning across all four semesters, preparing graduates for impactful professional practice in social welfare, community development, healthcare, and social justice sectors.
Community Development: Designed for students aspiring to work in rural and urban development, livelihoods, governance, public systems, and community-based social change initiatives.
Medical and Psychiatric Social Work: Designed for students seeking professional practice in healthcare institutions, mental health services, rehabilitation settings, and clinical social work environments.
KCLAS is part of Kumaraguru Institutions, a 150-acre campus in Coimbatore with established ties to overseas universities and access to over 70 micro-credentials through KCLAS Edge+. Students work alongside national and international practitioners, field organisations, and government bodies throughout the programme. Faculty members at KCLAS-MSW have worked across development projects, healthcare institutions, counselling, human rights, and grassroots community interventions, enabling students to learn social work through real-world practice and interdisciplinary perspectives. REACT is a Social Innovation Fellowship embedded inside the Community Development , Medical & Psychiatric Social Work specialisation of MSW at KCLAS. Your mandatory concurrent field work across all four semesters becomes a structured venture-building track. No additional years. No extra fees. The same MSW degree — with a Diploma in Social Innovation added, and a registered venture you own before you graduate. Fellows work with national and international mentors, STEM innovation teams, and real community partners throughout the two years. Thirty seats. Selective entry.
