Kumaraguru College of Liberal Arts and Science (KCLAS) is proud to announce its selection by the Ministry of Education through IIT Delhi to run the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) program. With a seed fund of Rs. 50,000, KCLAS is set to embark on a mission to drive transformational change in rural development processes by leveraging academic knowledge.
Inspired by the vision of UBA, which aims at comprehensive rural advancement, KCLAS has adopted five villages in Coimbatore: Chikkarampalayam, Agraharasamakulam, Vadavalli, Kuppanur, and Odderpalayam. The initial phase of this initiative involves conducting a baseline survey to understand the current state and needs of these communities.
This program fosters a symbiotic relationship between the community and academic institutions, encouraging a two-way exchange of knowledge. The UBA initiative at KCLAS emphasizes high levels of student-faculty engagement, transforming theoretical learning into practical, outcome-based projects that address real-world issues.
Through this program, KCLAS faculty and students, in collaboration with NGOs, will work on projects that make a tangible difference in the lives of rural residents. These projects will range from improving educational facilities and healthcare services to enhancing agricultural practices and promoting sustainable development.
KCLAS’s participation in the UBA program not only enhances the educational experience for its students but also reaffirms the institution’s commitment to social responsibility and community development. By integrating academic resources with the needs of rural areas, KCLAS aims to create a model of inclusive growth and sustainable development.
The KCLAS community is excited about the potential impact of this initiative and looks forward to making significant contributions to the adopted villages. This endeavor is a testament to the power of collaboration between educational institutions and rural communities in achieving meaningful progress.
