Research Committee of KCLAS organised an webinar titled, ” Reality and Challenges in Current Research ” on 27th January 2022 at 3.15 p.m via Microsoft Teams. The session holder was Dr. Muthukumarasamy, Dean- Research and Development, Coimbatore Institute of Technology. Faculty and students from KCLAS and other institutions participated in the session.
The session started with a keynote on the real reason for today’s research like, to get a PhD degree or to get a promotion or to go for higher education abroad etc. But according to the expert, the research should be passion based not need based for its success. The high percentage of Nobel Laurates in the world is from a particular community in the world population. Though the passionate research is in the gene, it can be practiced by all if it is undertaken with real interest. Then how the research should be, what are the characteristics of good research, points to keep in mind before starting a business etc are discussed. The outcome what we really get out of research is to be published with proper explanation, especially honest in analytical and experimental part is expected. Identifying correct and genuine journals are yet another challenge today’s researchers face. In order to have collaborative research with top institutions, advisable to review researchers’ findings, if possible try a similar research and cite their article wherever possible, then try for collaborations, based on true interest only collaborative research will happen.
Participants were able to understand the essential characteristics of a research and how to strengthen it further.
