Workshop on Financial Statement Analysis
Department of Commerce organised a Workshop on Financial Statement Analysis for II B.Com PA students on 07/02/2020. The Resource person Dr. P. Mohanamani, Assistant Professor, KCTBS, Saravanampatti, Coimbatore. She has completed her MBA and Ph.D., from Bharathiar University. She has qualified in UGC – National Eligibility Test (NET) in December, 2010. She has over 11 years of teaching experience. She handles courses related to Accounting, Financial Management and International Finance. She is a full time faculty at KCT Business School. Her areas of research are Foreign capital flows, Capital market and Econometrics in finance. She published 5 research papers in the International Journals.
The Workshop started with a welcome address and Introduction of Guest by Mr. R. Vinod II B.Com PA. Guest speaker started the workshop with the introduction to Financial Statement Analysis and she explained the process of analysing a company’s financial statements and how this is used for better economic decisions to earn income in future and also how the external stakeholders uses it to understand the overall health of an organization as well as to evaluate financial performance and business value. She has taken a Financial Statement of Tata Motors and applied various tools such as Comparative Statement, Common Size Statement, Trend Analysis and Ratio Analysis for the analysis. Financial statement analysis involves gaining an understanding of an organization’s financial situation by reviewing its financial reports. It helps the students to learn how to analyse and interpret the financial analysis. The Workshop was knowledgeable and useful to the students. The session was closed with a vote of thanks by Ms. G. Aarthi of II B.Com PA.
