Workshop on ‘Beyond Business Communication’
A workshop series on ‘Beyond Business Communication’ was organized by the Department of Commerce for the second year B. Com P.A students on 13/02/2020 at Lecture Hall 7, KCLAS. Dr. Srividya Sivakumar was the resource person for the workshop series. Ms. Divya Prabha, Student Co-ordinator welcomed the guest and introduced the resource person to her fellow mates. Dr. Srividya Sivakumar is an expert in the area of English literature, her high-level expertise and interest towards exploring the English literature is vast and has brought her many laurels. She is a senior faculty at T.I.M.E Institute and prepares students every year to get into the top tier institutions like IIMs, IITs, FMS, XLRI, ISB etc.
She begun her session by highlighting the importance of English vocabulary and exploring the language by focusing on one’s enjoyment and attention. She enlightened the students on the nuances of understanding the vocabulary and getting to the roots of the words. Students got to experience the importance of soft skills that serve as a major medium for the corporate world and also for the basic communication in day-to-day life. Her lecture was beyond business communication that helped the students to understand the different facets of communication with a live session of how to present oneself during a group discussion and personal interview. Also, topics like perception were further explored and students were engaged in different activities of learning themselves and their level of attention. The activities helped them to focus their attention as one basic form of business communication. Overall, students actively participated during the entire 4-hour session and found it extremely interesting and wanted more of such sessions through their positive feedback. Mr. Jagadeesh B.S, Student Co-ordinator proposed the vote of thanks and the resource person found it interesting to experience a young bunch of highly energetic students who interacted well.
