Department of visual communication had organized a guest lecture on writing and content style in television news by Aswathi.K. B, Asst. professor, dept. of Mass communication of Amrita University, Coimbatore, on 19. 09. 2019. Ashwathi started the session by providing the information about basic structure of writing.
She made clear the difference of TV writing, radio writing and newspaper writing. Ashwathi explained the importance of watching news and what makes news. She focused more on writing style of television news. She has demonstrated this with lots of examples. She not only gave lecture on the subject, but also involved the students in fun filled activities, which encouraged the talents of the students also. Like acting, singing, pretending to be RJ etc.., she shared her own experiences on the field of journalist and the lecturer. Her technical terms and detailed explanation on Advocate journalism and broadcast journalism was very useful to the young learners of media.
Students where very curious in learning more and more from her than her subject. So she extended her lecture and talked about print media, new media etc.., Students gained clear view on TV journalism. It was more interactive and infotainment based session, where the student comes to know the value of news. The session end upped after capturing the group photo.
