The Faculty Development Program on Idea Generation Method by ICT Academy organized by KCLAS was a playground for innovation and creativity. Academicians in various disciplines from colleges across Coimbatore participated with zeal and fervour.
The workshop exploded with a bang of brainstorming and reverse brainstorming, challenging us to embrace both the obvious and the absurd. We wielded the playful spirit of Chindogu, crafting ingenious solutions with everyday objects, and honed our narrative skills through storyboarding. Collaborative sketching shattered individual walls, allowing ideas to cross-pollinate in a symphony of pens and paper.
Then came the SCAMPER technique, a potent mind-bending tool that had us twisting and turning existing ideas to unearth hidden gems. Donning the six different hats of Edward de Bono’s thinking hatsoffered a kaleidoscope of perspectives, injecting empathy, caution, and playful whimsy into the mix.
But beyond the specific tools, the workshop instilled a crucial mindset shift. We learned to change perspective, stretch our comfort zones, and see the world through new lenses. Our trusty idea journalsbecame constant companions, capturing fleeting sparks and nurturing them into flames. Brainwriting sessions turned into idea-generating powerhouses, proving that collaboration fuels innovation like nothing else.
Often knowingly or unknowingly as an individual, we make assumptions about people and their situations. The assumptions build on our attitude toward the other person. It can be on the good side or the opposite side. I have started practicing taking a step back in situations and not making assumptions rather, ask questions for clarification.
I return from this workshop armed not just with tools, but with a contagious spirit of creativity. A heartfelt thanks to KCLAS and ICT Academy for providing this invaluable opportunity to unlock the power of imagination.
