About the Event

24 FPS is a two-day short film challenge conducted by the Department of Visual Communication, Kumaraguru College of Liberal Arts and Science. Participants receive a theme at the beginning of the challenge and create a short film within the given time.

From writing and planning to shooting, acting and editing, teams experience the full filmmaking process while working together under a time constraint. The event also includes filmmaking workshops and constructive jury feedback to help participants improve their storytelling, technical skills and understanding of the filmmaking process.

The challenge focuses on creativity, teamwork, storytelling, time management and practical filmmaking skills, while giving students an opportunity to showcase their work and learn from experienced filmmakers.

How the Challenge Works

From idea to final cut.

Theme

A theme is given at the beginning of the challenge.

Write & Plan

Develop the idea, story, screenplay and production plan within the available time.

Shoot

Handle camera work, acting, direction, sound and production as a team.

Edit

Assemble the film, refine the story and prepare the final cut.

Submit

Submit the completed film before the announced submission deadline.

Screen & Learn

Participate in screening, workshops and constructive jury feedback.

Rules & Regulations

Challenge rules

Please read all rules carefully before registering and forming your team.

Each team must consist of a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 members.
The short film must be created within the given time limit.
The film must be original work created by the participating team.
Participants must handle all aspects of production, including story development, shooting, acting and editing.
Stock footage, pre-recorded video clips or previously created content must not be used.
Participants may use mobile phones, cameras or other available equipment for production.
The final film must follow the specified duration and format requirements given by the organisers.
All teams must submit their completed film before the announced submission deadline. Late submissions may be disqualified.

Rules & Regulations

Conduct, content & submission

Please read all rules carefully before registering and forming your team.

Content containing hate speech, discrimination, explicit violence or inappropriate material is not permitted.
Copyrighted music, footage, images or other third-party material should not be used without proper permission.
The decisions of the jury and organising committee will be final.
Participants are expected to maintain discipline, teamwork and respectful conduct throughout the event.
The organisers reserve the right to disqualify a team for violation of the rules or misconduct.
Each team is responsible for arranging its own equipment, costumes, props and other production requirements.
All team members must be present during the required reporting, screening and workshop sessions unless permitted otherwise by the organisers.
