SUMMARY:National Immersion Programme to Goa Institute of Management
DESCRIPTION:The five-day course on “Sustainability and Responsible Management Practices” at the Goa Institute of Management offered students a deep dive into sustainability. Beginning with a focus on eco-friendly practices and community building\, the program covered a wide range of topics including environmental sustainability\, leadership\, green innovations\, and design thinking. Engaging panel discussions with experts from diverse sectors provided valuable insights and networking opportunities. A highlight was a session on advocating for sensibility in resource utilization and strategies for sustainable living. Students demonstrated their learning through the ‘SDG Express Challenge’ project\, culminating in presentations and feedback sessions. The course concluded with reflections on the week’s learnings and experiences.

DESCRIPTION:The Convocation Ceremony for the Class of 2024 was held at Ramananda Adigalar Auditorium on January 21\, 2024 which was a grand celebration\, marking the culmination of the academic journey for the graduates. The event was a blend of tradition\, recognition of achievements\, and inspirational addresses\, creating a memorable and meaningful experience for all. \n\nThe guests were welcomed by our Principal Dr Vijila Edwin Kennedy\, presided by Shri Shankar Vanavarayar\, Joint Correspondent \, Kumaraguru Institutions and the Chief Guest for the day was Mr. Erick Solheim \, 6th Executive Director\, UNEP\, Green Politician\, Peace Negotiator and Climate Leader. \n\nIt was a remarkable and dignified event \, celebrating the academic achievements of the graduates and signaling the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.

SUMMARY:EDGE+  Applied Theatre in Intersectionality of Healing and Education
DESCRIPTION:EDGE+ – Applied Theatre in Intersectionality of Healing and Education – a pioneering step by KCLAS \nThe Department of Psychology organised a five day programme for the II Psychology students from 05 – 09 February and the outcomes \nare highlighted. The programme was curated and facilitated Rangbhumi\, a applied theatre organisation based in Mumbai. They are pioneers in applied theatre in India and have international accolades for developing the applied theatre pedagogy.  \nThe five-day course on applied theatre in intersectionality of healing and education for the students of psychology emphasised the possibility of learning and transformation in parallel. The techniques of applied theatre curated and facilitated by Ms Chetna and team were cathartic and therapeutic in nature that not only led to a change in the individuals but also appreciate the theories of psychology through which their personal narratives were interpreted. This community of students were separate individuals. However\, by subjective and objective interpretation and understanding of their personal narratives\, social norms and psychological theories\, they came closer as a group by trusting each other and normalising their experiences. The course went in depth by helping students immerse in a creative process grounded in the applied theatre forms and the theories of psychology such as the social development theory by Lev Vygotsky and cognitive development theory by Jean Piaget. \nMs\, Chetna\, the founder of Rangbhumi\, was highly appreciative of the EDGE+ initiative of KCLAS as KCLAS is the first institution in India to offer academic credits for applied theatre in psychology education. While this is seen in international universities\, in India KCLAS makes this pioneering step.

SUMMARY:KCLAS - M Power Student Wellness Champions 2024
DESCRIPTION:KCLAS proudly presents the 25 student wellness champions for the year 2024. They are the team of individuals that are  committed and driven towards helping their fellow students address their mental health effectively. The group of 25 will be trained in psychological first aid through the Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) training programme by the Mental Health First Aid International\, Licensed Provider and Mpower\, an initiative by Aditya Birla Education Trust. Upon successful competition of YMHFA\, they will be the student mental health first aid providers of KCLAS that will handhold their fellow students in psychological need to take support from practitioners. This engagement is an outcome of the MOU between KCLAS and MPower.
