Nehemiah\, Deputy Commissioner & Consumer Protection Officer\, delivered an insightful address on consumer protection in the digital era.  Among the dignitaries were P. Subramanian\, Coordinator\, and R. Kumar\, Advisor\, both from Citizen’s Voice Coimbatore\, bringing extensive insights from their roles in consumer advocacy. Their presence highlighted grassroots efforts in promoting consumer rights.Thiru R. Gunasekaran\, the DSO (District Supply Officer) of Coimbatore\, graced the occasion\, showcasing governmental support for consumer protection initiatives.  \n\n \n\nThe conclave successfully fostered awareness\, collaboration and empowerment in navigating the evolving landscape of AI-driven consumer practices. \n\n \n\nVarious sessions followed\, including panel discussions led by Mr. Sujith Sukumaran\, Deputy Vice President Federal Bank\, Mr. Krishna Mohan K S\, Admin & Editor Newsletter\, Consumer Advocacy Group Andhra Pradesh\,  Mr. Hariharan C P\, Branch Head Sharekhan Ltd Coimbatore\, Mr. Vetrivel C\, Senior Internationalization Project Manager at Microsoft\, Bengaluru and Dr. Leo Gertrude\, Assistant Professor & Head of the Department of Visual Communication at KCLAS. \n\n \n\nSimultaneously\, the competition\, “Cook without Fire\,” engaged school students\, with Mr. Padayal Shiva as the guest.  \n\nApproximately 130 participants from various schools and colleges actively participated in the event\, enriching discussions and contributing to a comprehensive exploration of AI and consumer rights.  \n\nDr. N. Sumathy\, Professor & Head of the Department of Commerce welcomed the gathering followed by presidential address by Dr. Vijila Edwin Kennedy\, Principal of KCLAS.

DESCRIPTION:KCLAS proudly presents the 25 student wellness champions for the year 2024. They are the team of individuals that are  committed and driven towards helping their fellow students address their mental health effectively. The group of 25 will be trained in psychological first aid through the Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) training programme by the Mental Health First Aid International\, Licensed Provider and Mpower\, an initiative by Aditya Birla Education Trust. Upon successful competition of YMHFA\, they will be the student mental health first aid providers of KCLAS that will handhold their fellow students in psychological need to take support from practitioners. This engagement is an outcome of the MOU between KCLAS and MPower.

SUMMARY:EDGE+  Applied Theatre in Intersectionality of Healing and Education
DESCRIPTION:EDGE+ – Applied Theatre in Intersectionality of Healing and Education – a pioneering step by KCLAS \nThe Department of Psychology organised a five day programme for the II Psychology students from 05 – 09 February and the outcomes \nare highlighted. The programme was curated and facilitated Rangbhumi\, a applied theatre organisation based in Mumbai. They are pioneers in applied theatre in India and have international accolades for developing the applied theatre pedagogy.  \nThe five-day course on applied theatre in intersectionality of healing and education for the students of psychology emphasised the possibility of learning and transformation in parallel. The techniques of applied theatre curated and facilitated by Ms Chetna and team were cathartic and therapeutic in nature that not only led to a change in the individuals but also appreciate the theories of psychology through which their personal narratives were interpreted. This community of students were separate individuals. However\, by subjective and objective interpretation and understanding of their personal narratives\, social norms and psychological theories\, they came closer as a group by trusting each other and normalising their experiences. The course went in depth by helping students immerse in a creative process grounded in the applied theatre forms and the theories of psychology such as the social development theory by Lev Vygotsky and cognitive development theory by Jean Piaget. \nMs\, Chetna\, the founder of Rangbhumi\, was highly appreciative of the EDGE+ initiative of KCLAS as KCLAS is the first institution in India to offer academic credits for applied theatre in psychology education. While this is seen in international universities\, in India KCLAS makes this pioneering step.
