SUMMARY:Kumaraguru MUN - 2024
DESCRIPTION:KMUN – ‘2024\nThe Department of Political Science\, in collaboration with Qubate\, successfully organized the Kumaraguru Model United Nations (K-MUN) 2024 from 27th to 30th September 2024. This three-day event provided a dynamic and immersive platform for 178 delegates from different colleges and schools to engage in meaningful discussions on pressing global issues. \nThe primary objective of K-MUN 2024 was to offer students/delegates a unique simulation experience\, where they role-played as diplomats in six UN committees. Participants engage in debates on global issues\, mirroring UN proceedings. Through this\, participants developed crucial skills in diplomacy\, public speaking\, and critical thinking\, while deepening their understanding of international relations and global challenges firsthand. K-MUN 2024 has not only empowered them to voice their ideas but also inspired constructive debate\, helping shape future global leaders. \nThe event aims to foster a collaborative environment where delegates can explore solutions to pressing global challenges\, thereby empowering their voices and embracing change through informed and constructive debate. \nWorking of MUN:\nModel United Nations (MUN) operates on a structured framework designed to simulate real-world diplomatic proceedings. Each committee within the MUN selects a maximum of two broad topics for discussion and debate. These debates follow proper procedures\, including formats such as Moderated Caucus\, where delegates speak in a structured order on a specific aspect of the topic; Unmoderated Caucus\, allowing for free-form discussion and negotiation; and General Speeches\, where delegates present their country’s stance. This format ensures a comprehensive exploration of the chosen topics from various perspectives. \nThe MUN event typically spans two to three days\, providing ample time for in-depth discussions and negotiations. As the debates progress\, delegates work collaboratively to draft resolutions that address the issues at hand. These draft resolutions are then presented to the entire committee for consideration. The goal is to refine these drafts through further debate and negotiation until they can be officially adopted as resolutions. The successful passage of these resolutions marks the conclusion of the session\, representing the culmination of the delegates’ efforts in diplomatic problem-solving and consensus-building. \nCOMMITTEES:\n\n UNSC: United Nations Security Council \n UNHRC: United Nations Human Rights Council \n UNEP: United Nations Environment Programme \n HCC: Historic Crisis Committee \n AIPPM: All India Political Parties Meet \n IPC: International Press Corps\n\n\n \n Enhanced Diplomatic Skills\n Informed Perspectives\n Collaborative Problem-Solving\n Personal Growth\n Networking Opportunities\n \n\nKMUN 2024 is expected to play a pivotal role in cultivating a robust MUN culture within Kumaraguru College\, encouraging a tradition of active engagement in international diplomacy among students. By providing a platform for emerging diplomats to showcase their skills and insights\, the event will help nurture the next generation of leaders\, equipping them with the experience and expertise needed to excel in future diplomatic endeavours.

This experience was not merely an educational opportunity but a catalyst that fostered new friendships\, offered global perspectives\, and inspired innovative solutions. \n This Summer program was rich with diverse academic pathways. Some of them plunged into the intricacies of “Entrepreneurship and Society: Ideas\, Opportunities\, and Value Creation\,” where they dissected social entrepreneurial concepts and learned to harness opportunities. Edinburgh’s historic streets\, the serene beauty of the Lake District\, and the bustling energy of London provided a backdrop to their journey. These explorations were more than just sightseeing; they were lessons in managing the logistics of travel\, adapting to new environments\, and embracing the unexpected. \n This journey was a powerful testament to the value of learning beyond traditional classroom settings. It underscored the essence of a liberal arts education\, one that values diverse experiences\, fosters critical thinking\, and encourages holistic development. Their adventure was not just a series of events but a narrative of growth\, discovery\, and the joy of expanding their worldviews.
