SUMMARY:National Immersion Program - IIM Kozhikode
DESCRIPTION:A group of  second-year and third-year students from BBA\, BBA IB\, B.Com PA\, and BA Economics embarked on a National Immersion Program at IIM Kozhikode from March 10th (Monday) to March 14th (Friday)\, 2025\, as part of their Liberal Studies Course – Akumen Immersion Program. The team departed from Coimbatore on March 09th\, 2025 (AN) and reached IIM Kozhikode by evening. \n\nDay 1 Highlights (March 10\, 2025):\nThe first day of the National Immersion Program at IIM Kozhikode commenced with an inaugural session led by Prof. Deepa Sethi\, Dean of Humanities & Liberal Arts in Management\, who warmly welcomed the participants and provided an overview of the five-day program. The day featured three insightful sessions each designed to offer students valuable learning experiences in communication\, psychology\, and social change. \nThe first session on “Impactful Communication” by Dr. Deepa Sathi introduced the program objectives and began with an icebreaker activity to enhance team collaboration and creative thinking. This was followed by a Harvard Business Case Study titled “The Team That Wasn’t”\, focusing on team dynamics\, leadership challenges and decision-making. Students were divided into teams for case analysis\, with the final presentation scheduled for Wednesday fostering a collaborative learning environment. \nThe second session on Social Psychology by Prof. Suraj Gogoi delved into human behaviour\, social influence\, and group dynamics. Using real-world examples\, he highlighted how social perception impacts leadership\, decision-making\, and teamwork\, enabling students to connect academic concepts with practical scenarios. \nThe third session was led by Prof. A.F. Mathew on “Social Transformation in India” offering a thought-provoking discourse on societal changes. Prof. Mathew highlighted the impact of cultural shifts\, economic development\, technological advancements\, and government policies in shaping contemporary Indian society. Through real-life examples and powerful narratives\, he emphasised the existing inequalities\, evolving mindsets\, and social challenges faced by various communities in the country. The session inspired students to reflect on their role in driving positive social change\, fostering a sense of social responsibility and awareness. \nThe first day concluded with valuable learning experiences providing students with insights into communication\, social psychology\, and social transformation laying a strong foundation for the upcoming sessions of the National Immersion Program. \n\nOn Day 2\, Prof. Gladys Stephen\, specializing in Marketing Management\, conducted a session on Design Thinking introducing the six-step process of Empathize\, Define\, Ideate\, Prototype\, Test\, and Implement. She emphasised how a user-centered approach fosters innovative solutions for complex problems\, encouraging students to think creatively and apply strategic problem-solving methods.  \nThe second session on Political Science and Management was conducted by Prof. Salamah Ansari\, an expert in Humanities & Liberal Arts in Management. She provided valuable insights into the Preamble of the Indian Constitution and the structure of government\, emphasizing the roles of governance\, policy-making\, and constitutional principles\, thereby enhancing students’ understanding of government functioning. \n\nThe third day commenced with a session on Effective Presentation by Prof. Deepa Sethi\, where teams presented their analysis of the Day 1 case study and received constructive feedback to refine their communication skills. The session concluded with a team-based activity using chart paper and coloured pens to foster collaboration and creative expression. This exercise enhanced visual storytelling skills\, encouraging students to present ideas more effectively. \nThis was followed by an insightful session on wellness and stress management by Prof. Judu Ilavarasu. He focused on stress triggers\, cognitive patterns and effective coping mechanisms. He also introduced yoga\, relaxation techniques and mindfulness practices to promote mental well-being\, complementing the session with a live demonstration. \nDuring the post-lunch session\, Prof. Anand G conducted an in-depth discussion on the Humanitarian Supply Chain focusing on its key functions in disaster relief and emergency response. He elaborated on logistics planning\, procurement\, inventory management and last-mile distribution emphasizing the critical role of efficiency in ensuring timely delivery of essential resources such as food\, medicine and shelter to affected regions.

DESCRIPTION:Students from II B. Com\, II BBA\, and II BBA(IB) embarked on an exciting journey at the NISM Immersion Program from 11/03/2025 to 13/03/2025.  \n\nDay 1 Highlights (11/03/2025):\nThe day’s proceedings kicked off with an insightful session on ‘Introduction to Securities Markets’ by Dr. Shreyas Vyas\, Assistant Professor\, NISM. Dr. Vyas delved into the nuances of the stock market\, key regulatory frameworks including the SEBI Act\, Depositories Act 1996\, and the role of the Securities Appellate Tribunal. He also discussed the functioning of prominent exchanges like MCX. \nThe afternoon session featured ‘The Ultimate Power BI Overview’ by Dr. Kirti Arekar\, Professor at NISM\, followed by hands-on training in the Data Science Lab. Students learned about Power BI’s basics\, features\, components and created interactive dashboards using sample sales data. They gained practical experience in data visualization\, reporting\, publishing and equipping them with the skills to leverage Power BI for data-driven decision-making and business intelligence.  \n\n	\n		\n	\n\n\nDay 2 Highlights (12/03/2025)\nThe second day of the NISM Immersion Program began with an enlightening session at the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX)\, where Mr. Anish Vyas\, Trainer at MCX\, delivered an engaging and informative presentation. He provided a comprehensive overview of financial markets\, MCX’s role\, market structure\, types of commodity markets\, and regulatory frameworks governing them. Mr. Vyas also explained various contract types through real-life scenarios\, discussed factors influencing commodity prices\, and offered a comparative analysis of commodity and equity markets. Furthermore\, he shared essential do’s and don’ts for investors\, and introduced the students to the SEBI New Investor website and the Saarthi app\, empowering them with valuable insights into the commodity markets and informed investment decisions. \n\n	\n			\n\n\nDay 3 \nThe third day of the NISM Immersion Program featured an engaging session on ‘An Overview of Securities Market’ held at the Simulation Lab\, led by Mr. Sanket Ahire\, Deputy Manager at NISM. The session provided a comprehensive understanding of the securities market\, covering key aspects such as various investment avenues\, market infrastructure institutions\, and the different products traded in the market\, including equities and derivatives. Participants also gained valuable insights into the functioning of the Over-the-Counter (OTC) market. 	\nA major highlight of the session was the hands-on training on trading simulations. Students actively participated in placing orders\, buying and selling securities\, and managing pending orders. This practical exposure helped them better understand real-time trading scenarios\, enhance their decision-making abilities\, and develop essential skills required for navigating the securities market effectively. \nThe second session was handled by Dr. Jatin Trivedi\, Program Director at NISM\, Mumbai. He spoke about behavioural finance and how emotions and psychology influence investment decisions. He shared interesting case studies such as the Harshad Mehta Scam\, the Nick Leeson–Barings Bank case\, and Isaac Newton’s experience with share investments. While discussing the Barings Bank case\, he explained how a single trader\, Nick Leeson\, caused the collapse of one of the oldest banks in England through unauthorized trading and poor risk management. Dr. Trivedi also explained the basics of IPOs\, making the session informative and engaging.
